Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations – Travel Edition

The Sephora VIB Sale kicked off yesterday for VIB Rouge members and for the rest of us  November 9-12th. There abounds plenty of excellent recommendation posts, so I thought I would focus mine on something a little different. These are my top picks and tips for your 2019 travel adventures.

The holiday season means companies are putting out kits and loads of mini’s. Minis are the perfect things for travel for several reasons. One, they take up let space. Two, if they get lost, who cares? It is not nearly as big a loss as losing your full size items. Additionally, if you are like me, what makeup I wear while I travel is not necessarily what I wear at home.

Let’s start with primer, shall we?

A nice breathable primer is key. I like the options available in this Smashbox Try it Kit, although personally, I just travel with the face primer.

A better option for me is this because it has the primers, but also a mascara and lip product.

My travel foundation is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC cream with SPF 50+. I love the mini, but the full size is still small enough to go with you with just a carry on. I love the look, the sun protection, and it is relatively sweat proof.

In a travel eyeshadow palette, I look for a neutral palette with enough range that it allows me to go from a neutral, professional look to smoky dinner look . It has to be compact in size and with a color range that I can mix and match. I currently recommend these:

Tarte Tartelette Tease for $19.00

The smashbox Cover Shot palettes have enough options that if you on a daily basis wear more color, this might be your go to. As for me, I would likely only get the Petal Metal, Minimalist, or Golden Hour.

The ultimate for me is the UD Naked Basics.

Lips are the hardest for me because a little variety can really switch up your look. A set of minis is best here because it gives you a range of shades, you just need a formula you love. For India, I am bringing the Too faced Sweet Smell of Christmas mini set.

Another kit I love, plus is has a liner with it is this by Kat Von D.

If you can rock just one lip color, the Benefit bene-tint kit here is an ideal travel kit. This is one of my favorite eyebrow poducts and mascara. However, the blush packaging is too big to be truly good for travel.

Travel is not the time for a ton of blushes or contour products. They key is a color that just flatters your skin so well, it goes with any look.

I personally travel with a Sephora birthday mini. If I didn’t have this, it would likely go for this Nars Blush/Bronzer duo mini.

Finish with a setting spray. Travel is not the time to skimp on this because you are going to be on the go and this really helps your look stay in place longer. The last thing I want to do is take a break in Paris or hiking in Thailand to reapply. This one is actually in my travel bag. Urban Decay All Day All Night Travel Duo.
