April/ May 2017 Reads

It feels like it has been forever since I wrote about what I was reading. In all honesty, I was not reading much while I was trying to get through Nursing 3. However, I have made up some ground in May.

Planetary, Volume 3: Leaving the 20th Century: Still working through this series and I still love it. Sadly, I only have one volume left! Whatever shall I do?

My Sister, Guard Your Veil; My Brother, Guard Your Eyes: Uncensored Iranian Voices by Lila Azam Zanganeh (Editor): This was a collection of short stories/ vingettes by those of Iranian descent or who are Iranian. It was excellent – I highly recommend it!

Luna Park by Kevin Baker is a graphic novel that tells the story of a former Russian soldier who lives in the shadow of Coney Island where he chases booze and heroin, while running from the memories that haunt.

The Real Cost of Prisons Comix (The real cost of prisons comix #1-3) by Lois Ahrens. I am a big ol’ liberal who already agrees with the point the author was trying to make — and I was bored out of my mind.

The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer. I don’t like Amy Schumer…. why did I think I would like her book?!?! I highly suspect you would like this book if you already like Amy Schumer.

Entries: Poems by Wendell Berry. I like Wendell Berry; however, this was a very mediocre work that did not showcase his talent to its’ greatest extent.

Bonjour Tristesse by Françoise Sagan: It was French, moody, and self-indulgent. Sometimes I need a little of that in my life.

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. I freaking love Anna Kendrick and I loved this book. I want her and me to be BBFs4EVA. Can someone arrange that?!? But like the Amy Schumer book, if you like Anna Kendrick, you will likely like this book. If you don’t, how do you even make it through my blog?

What did you guys read this month?
