Go To Holiday Essentials

I don’t know about you, but Z. and I spend most of our weekends this time of year at holiday parties or Christmasy type events. This means I spent a lot of my prep time doing more glam/party looks. Clearly, Best. Time. Of. Year!!! I love glamming it up a little. But making your party look does not require a lot of extra work. In fact, these are my holiday essentials!

For my holiday looks, I do everything exactly the same in terms of face makeup. Primer – foundation – concealer – setting powder – blush, and then I wear highlighter. Super simple, right?

Where I change things up is with my eye makeup. I find gold to be a beautiful and easy holiday look. I wish I could master the art of eye makeup photography, but I am clearly still not there. For an easy holiday eye, I put on a primer, followed with a creamy eyeshadow. I recommend the Maybelline Color Tattoo in bold gold or the Laura Mercier Cavier Stick Eye Color in rose gold. I then top it with a gold eye shadow. I used Buttered Rum from the 2013 Too Faced Be Merry Be Bright holiday collection, but any gold shadow would do beautiful.

Side note – if you ever wonder if buying a holiday theme palette is worth it, absolutely. I may not wear my too faced holiday shadows every day, but I get so much joy out of wearing them every November/December and into New Year.

Anyway, back to eye makeup. Put a light brown in your crease, add a winged eyeliner, lots of mascara, and you are done!

Add a bright red lip, some red nails, and you have a very adaptable and lovely holiday look!

Z. and I were headed to dinner and then Louisville Choral/Symphony holiday concert, so I paired this look with a hunter green dress, some hunter green shoes, a holiday necklace and off we went!

Check out my handsome date giving you guys the side eye

  1. Hey Anna!

I’d love to invite you to submit a short piece to my blog. I think your perspective and style of writing would be a perfect piece for my project.

It’d also be a great way to get your blog/writing out there.

Please feel free to email me (jennifer@youngandtwenty) with more questions, or take a look at the ‘BEING Young & Twenty’ page on my blog.

    I hope I’ll hear from you 🙂
