Happy Birthday, Hermie.

For those of you who didn’t know, this is Hermione (Hermie for short).

Three years ago, she was pushed out of a car and left on the side of the highway. My sister saw the entire episode and brought the poor thing home. However, she had two toddlers at the time, and a rowdy lab was not a good fit for her family. So after much guilt, home she came with me.

Hermione on the day she came home with me.

In all honesty, my dog is seven types of special. Our house is constantly covered in fur. Hermie does not believe in bathroom privacy.  She is ridiculously needy (which is awesome when you need to cuddle), fat, rowdy, and dumb. Like really dumb. She hits her head on walls all the time. She loves everyone, even if you don’t love her. Hermione is like your really close stupid friend. They have no brains whatsoever and you are constantly amazed they survive from day to day, but so ridiculously sweet that you can’t help but love them.

Did I also mention she thinks she is a 70 pound lap dog?

And I wouldn’t trade her for anything. She is part of our family now, and like all ridiculous family members, you can’t image life without her. So happy birthday, Hermie. My study partner, Christmas dog (despite your love of eating ornaments), and all around friend.

I’m glad you are ours. Extra pets and peanut butter kongs for everyone today.
