Z. and I are off to Thailand and I am sure that all my readers most pressing question was “Well what will Anna be reading while she is gone?” Understandable. That’s totally my first thought too.
While I don’t anticipate getting a lot of reading done in Thailand, we have something like 22 hours of travel time each way, so I will have lots of great reading time on this trip. It’s why long flights don’t stress me too badly. I love an excuse to read for 14 hours straight.
A note for this trip, I almost always exclusively travel with an ereader on trips like this because I always try to travel very light. I also always try to read what is available through my public library. The only downside is that I can only check out 5 books at a time, which usually means I check out five and then get some classic (free) titles downloaded so there is no lack of material to read.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maquire
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Basically it is my version of literary fluff. Books that I have heard are fun and enjoyable, but nothing too deep or serious (except The Narrow Road which I checked out in case I was in the mood for something deeper). This certainly doesn’t mean I don’t think these books are good or valuable, but that I am looking for something that I find fun to read. Does that make sense?
What would you read on vacation?
